So I went back to school

I'm only taking one class, a writing class because LOL. But I have to start somewhere and a class that will be relatively easy for me to get my feet wet seemed like a good idea.

So far the teacher changed her syllabus on the first day and told us she would be changing it regularly the whole time and that? Has me feeling more than a little dubious.

But whatevs, man. I shall endure and do my damn best regardless.

That's... not usual. So don't hold one teacher's policy against all of them. I put a disclaimer on my syllabus that things on the schedule may be subject to change, but that's in case I break my ankle (again) or I come down with flu. If it's a major change for other reasons I give my students options and let them decide what is best for them.

Oh totally, the syllabus almost always has changes, it's cool. But to make a syllabus and then change it the first day and tell us she *always* changes the syllabus and we have to check online for her assignments because we can't trust the syllabus...makes me wonder why she bothered giving us...that particular plan?

In the following two classes she has turned into an actual nightmare. She spent about an hour of each class talking about herself (we do not need to know her grandfather was an alcoholic, I don't feel) (also I watched the clock yesterday to time how much time she spent talking about her life and not actually teaching anything. It was an hour)

She sent me a snotty email when i asked to clarify one detail of an assignment, and then used a slur at the end of class yesterday. Sooooooo I've already talked to the department head and will be talking to the registrar tomorrow about how to get the hell out of this class. Because I have a very long list of stuff that just...I was totally prepared to just deal with a difficult teacher the first day. So many things have happened the the following four hours it's beyond "difficult" and into "obstructive"

Half the class has withdrawn since the first day. bleh.
